Currently trending on social media is fraudulent advice for taxpayers to file Form 8944, Preparer e-File Hardship Waiver Request, or Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, with false information in hopes of getting an unduly large refund, the IRS warned on March 28, day seven of its annual campaign against “Dirty Dozen” tax-related scams and schemes.
