This national organization wants to make Canada a cannabis tourism destination

Becker is the founder and CEO of HiBnB, an online booking marketplace for cannabis-friendly accommodations, excursions and activities.

We’re the first country in the G7 to legalize at the federal level, and we feel that it’s our right to be able to advertise internationally so that people can come here and enjoy our relaxed laws and our great community.

While a provincial patchwork of regulations across the country makes rallying for policy change a fragmented task, Becker says it also creates opportunities to highlight when provinces get something right.

The public consumption of cannabis is an area that remains in a bit of a haze, however.

“If you go to the Palm Springs website, there’s a clear indication about experiencing cannabis tourism in Palm Springs.

Dupej, a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Guelph, is heading to the U.S.

Dupej contends that federal legalization has led to a more transparent relationship between consumers and their cannabis sources and it only makes sense that many consumers want to be able to explore that relationship further, including visiting producers, purchasing on-site and learning about growing methods.

“In the U.S., you can actually go into the fields and have a personal interaction with the plant and this is something that I’m going to study,” Dupej tells The GrowthOp.

Becker says that a bad experience can shape people’s perception of the plant and make it difficult to understand how others are able to utilize cannabis for health and wellness purposes.
