Capitol Theatre remains closed indefinitely as DSCDO looks to raise money to reopen historic movie house

“We still have not received a response to our application, and we are advocating along with other local venues for immediate release of these relief funds.

The nonprofit organization said the $50,000 is needed for repairs, supplies and bills.

“The Capitol’s main goal has always been to provide a welcoming, community-oriented movie theatre as an anchor of the Gordon Square Arts District in the heart of our neighborhood.

In January, the Capitol’s two upper-floor auditoriums were renovated with modern recliners thanks to a cultural facilities grant from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission.
