Jalen Green 2021 NBA draft scouting report: What he’ll bring to the league

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Jalen Green took the opportunity to be among the first players to come out of high school and go straight into the NBA G-League in preparation for the 2021 NBA Draft.

“Shooting guard prospects with his combination of athleticism and shot making ability don’t come along often.

… Hits more than 80 percent of his free throws and has good touch away from the rim, which bodes well for his 3-point shooting potential.

While there are areas of his game that Green needs to hone — handle, playmaking and defense — the comparisons to bouncy Zach LaVine are tough to ignore.

If Green is the pick, the Cavs will get a motivated and explosive player on the wing a year after they strengthened that area with the selection of Isaac Okoro.

He’s not as good as Cade Cunningham but is in the next tier with Evan Mobley and Jalen Suggs.

But you could also make the case for Mobley or Suggs to go to Houston, which could leave Green available for the Cavs at No.

If it’s Green, the Cavaliers get a shooting guard with elite scoring ability as well as upside from the perimeter and on defense.

But more importantly, he can be the guy that the Cavaliers have needed in this rebuild.
