Rockets’ Jalen Green steals show in summer league debut

LAS VEGAS — The scouts, coaches and executives were there, sure to catch the showdown of draft night stars.

Veterans John Wall, David Nwaba and Jae’Sean Tate and newcomer Daniel Theis filled the front row, the seats called “Gucci Row” in the UNLV glory days.

Green tossed in an off-the-dribble, fadeaway 3-pointer in the second quarter and ended the half with another turnaround jumper.

He struggled to finish inside, often matched up with the length and bounce of Mobley.

On one typical possession in the third quarter, Sengun made a move to the rim only to have Mobley smash away the shot.

Minutes later, he blocked a Mobley shot on one end, grabbing the rebound to trigger a fast break that Josh Christopher finished with a layup on the other.

But the Green run to end the first half and start the second stole the show and sent the Rockets to a win in their summer league opener.
