Town hall looks to solutions to gun violence, youth incarceration following Young Dolph’s death

The groups were the Shelby County Commission Black Caucus, Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope, Heal the Hood, Families Matter, Memphis Christian Pastor’s Network, Memphis Artists for Change and Black Urban Male.org.

Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., was shot and killed last Wednesday inside Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies on Airways Boulevard.

“I’m sad about what happened to Young Dolph,” Donavan Kilgore-Russell said during the town hall.

“They were talking about how they were going to jail and being locked up since the age of 15,” Kilgore-Russell said.

“Losing Young Dolph was a blow to our city,” Sawyer said.

That money’s going to be gone two years from now, a year from now.
