If passed, The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act, or “MORE Act,” would, among other things, authorize a tax on cannabis and cannabis products; require expungement and resentencing hearings for prior cannabis-related convictions; and fund grant programs geared toward job training, legal aid, substance abuse treatment and small business loans.

House Passes Bipartisan Marijuana Research Bill to Let Scientists Study Dispensary Products, Days After Legalization Vote – The US House of Representatives passed The Medical Marijuana Research Act, a bipartisan bill intended to streamline cannabis studies.

AL – The Alabama Senate Children, Youth, and Human Services Committee approved SB 324, a bill sponsored by State Sen.

AZ – The Arizona Court of Appeals ruled that the state Department of Child Safety was wrong to add a woman who legally used medical cannabis while pregnant on an employment-related list for child neglect.

MD – The Maryland Senate approved two bills that would permit residents 21 and older to possess up to 1.5 ounces of cannabis beginning in 2023, while making possession of amounts between 1.5 ounces and 2.5 ounces subject only to a civil citation.

MS – The Board of Supervisors of Pontotoc County, MS, voted to block businesses seeking to cultivate or sell state-legalized medical cannabis.

OR – Oregon’s Liquor & Cannabis Commission published a news release announcing increases in potency limits on cannabis edible products sold in licensed dispensaries.

Among other things, the bills would cap at four the maximum number of medical cannabis plants patients may grow and expand the scope of permitted medical cannabis prescribers.

TN – Legislation to legalize medical cannabis, HB 1968, was pulled by its sponsor, Rep.

Cannabis Grower Bright Green Files for Direct Listing of Stock on Nasdaq – Bright Green Corp., one of a handful of companies permitted by the Drug Enforcement Administration to grow, manufacture and sell cannabis and cannabis-related products for research, pharmaceutical applications and export, announced the filing of a registration statement with the SEC relating to its direct listing of class A common stock on NASDAQ.
