Cannabis farmer who fled onto roof caught with harvest worth £900,000 – Leicestershire Live

A 20-year-old cannabis farmer was caught red-handed with huge crop inside a Leicester house.

A gardener who had been tending the plants, Agostin Gjoka, was detained trying to escape from a kitchen window.

The court heard that incriminating evidence was found on Lama’s mobile phone, including instructions of how to maximise the a yield.

Lama, of Clyde Place, Leyton, London, admitted cannabis production, between last September and January.

In interview, Gjoka told officers he arrived in the UK last year having been smuggled in the back of a lorry, for which he had to pay off a £15,000 debt.

He claimed not to have previously met his co-defendant, Lama – who also suggested to the police that he was also acting under duress.

“Officers raided a property here in Leicester and found a sophisticated grow, capable of yielding substantial wholesale amounts of cannabis, with equipment to maximise yields.

Jasvir Singh Mann, for Gjoka, said his client’s involvement was at the lowest end of the scale.
