The total number of cannabis retail stores in Ontario grew from 573 in the first quarter of 2021 to 834 in the second quarter.
Cannabis stores in Dundas, Ancaster, Stoney Creek and Waterdown averaged $60,296 in sales per month in January, February and March this year, according to OCS.
Raymond Kahnert, spokesperson for the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, which licenses cannabis retail stores across the province, said a Retail Store Authorization was issued to a numbered company, operating as Green King Cannabis, for 236 Governor’s Rd.
The province will eventually see some closures, and consolidation, of stores, but in the short term, Armstrong doesn’t expect any net loss of stores.
